Help us find the cure for Dupuytren disease
Welcome to my Fundraising page!
In August 2015, I was diagnosed with early stage Dupuytren disease, a connective tissue disease which affects both of my hands. I started my journey with this disease by educating myself through research on the Internet and by joining the Dupuytren's Disease Support Group DDSG on Facebook. I have learned that as of today, there is no cure for Dupuytren disease. It is genetic and progressive, and it can lead to contracture of the fingers. Dupuytren disease can also be painful. Very few orthopedic hand specialists know how to treat it in its early stages to help slow down the progression.
When I have mentioned to others that I have Dupuytren disease, very few people have heard of it. According to https://dupuytrens.org/, about 15 million Americans age 35 and older have Dupuytren disease so a lot of people are affected by it, and together, we are hoping to find a cure. Funding for research is needed to understand the biology of the disease so I've created this fundraising page in case you would like to help us find a cure.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for helping to find the cure.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
