Help us find the cure for Dupuytren disease
Welcome to my Fundraising page!
Four years ago, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Dupuytren disease - a connective tissue disease. This disease affects the hands, and as many of you know me, this was devastating as this eventually will probably prevent me following my passion for tuba playing. While I can still function, I get constant pain from my tendons and as the disease worsens, my hands become cripled and 'clawed'. Even playing whilst I am still capable is becoming painful and after longer periods I have massive pain for days following. One thing I immediately learned is that although it's not a rare disease, not many doctors really know anything about it and there is little, if any, focus on treatment or a cure. I've already undergone two minor operations, one major operation, two series' of radiation therapy to slow down and hopefully halt the disease. Additionally, I'm I am now suffering from both Peyronies and mild Ledderhose disease too!! Unfortunately for my children, the disease is genetic although none of my parents show any signs of it.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for helping to find the cure.
Thank you in advance for your kindness.
