Help us find the cure for Dupuytren disease
Welcome to my Fundraising page!
In June of this year I was diagnosed with a rare hand disease, called Dupuytrens- a connective tissue disease. Dupuytrens is a progressive, disabling disease that starts with nodules on your hands, progresses to raised cords and ultimately may result in curled, unusable fingers. Only 30 million people worldwide have the disease. One thing I immediately learned is that because it's a rare disease, no doctors really know much about it and there is little, if any, focus on treatment or a cure. Unfortunately for my children, the disease is genetic. My father developed the disease later in life, but it can strike at any age. I'm still in the early stages of the disease and have raised nodules on the palms of both of my hands which can cause pain, tingling and numbness up through my fingers. We need to learn more about what causes the disease in order to find a cure or to prevent it from advancing. I'm coping well and and still fully functional, but am concerned about my future and especially the future for my children.
Please make a small donation to this cause. This will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for helping to find the cure. Thank you in advance for your kindness!
